Challenge:
Team up with the PLNU Office of Sustainability to promote Creation Care Week. The goal is to engage the campus community with human-centered research approaches to create a climate change awareness campaign. Use research findings from Climate Scientist Katharine Hayhoe to effectively communicate current issues within a polarized world.
Solution:
Within her Substack “Talking Climate,” Climate Scientist Katharine Hayhoe described a pilot study in Cairo, Egypt, that placed piezoelectric tiles in a metro station to generate electricity from passengers walking over them. The study showed that the tiles were able to power the entire station. My solution reimagines what this kind of technology could do for New York City. Using squares and Massimo Vignelli’s subway design system, I created a recognizable, yet inventive visual communication to catch attention, inform and provoke imaginative climate solutions.
Deliverables:
24” x 72” banner for campus column, social media component, take-away item.
